Hamstring Tendinopathy

Hamstring tendinopathy refers to micro tears within the tendon(s) of the hamstring muscle group near where they insert in the back of the knee.

It usually involves the Biceps Femoris Hamstring tendon which is on the outside of the knee. It results from overuse of the hamstring tendon usually in acceleration and deceleration activities. It is usually associated with tight hamstring muscles

Management involves soft tissue release, stretching, eccentric strengthening of the hamstrings and correction of training or bio-mechanical anomalies.
